Foundations Film Festival
The Alzar School, in an effort to promote its mission of educating high school leaders, has launched the Foundations Film Festival. This annual festival will serve to inspire, celebrate, and document leadership efforts. Showings are hosted by the Alzar School and members of its supporter network, with proceeds supporting the school's nonprofit efforts. Join us in enjoying films that celebrate our school's Six Foundations.

What do I get if my films accepted to the festival?
Filmmakers whose films are selected to join our festival are invited for our showing at the Roxy Theater. Your film will be shown in an awesome theater in front of our supporters and guests. Selected films are also considered for one of the festival recognition awards (see below). And, we'll send you an Alzar School hat as a token of our appreciation.
What film length do you recommend?
The Foundations Film Fest shows short films from 1 minute to 30 minutes. Generally, films in the 5-10 minute range seem most appropriate.
What types of films to you accept?
Films selected should highlight one or more of our school's Six Foundations:
- Outdoor Adventure
- Cultural Exchange
- Leadership Training
- Service Learning
- Environmental Stewardship
We are looking for inspiring films that align with our mission of empowering leaders to make a difference in the world. Films that have narratives that cover more than one of the above foundations are especially relevant, as our school works to craft experiences that tie in several or all of those foundations.
What does the festival look like?
Each year, we will host a showing of the films selected for our film festival at our awesome, beautiful home theater (the Roxy Theater) in Cascade, Idaho. Additionally, alumni, friends, and other supporters can host a showing in their home towns. All showings are used to raise funds for the Alzar School (a 501c3 nonprofit) and/or alumni Culminating Leadership Projects. Additionally, the films are organized as a cultivated playlist for online viewing. So, once selected for this film festival, your film may be shown at several locations around the country/world.
Do you present awards?
Yes, we present 3 different film awards at the Festival: Best of Festival, Most Inspiring Story, and Best Cinematography. Awards are made at our showing at the Roxy Theater.
