Affording Alzar School

We realize that attending Alzar School requires a significant financial commitment on the part of your family.  We seek to meet the demonstrated financial need of accepted students.

Families have utilized 529 plans for Alzar School tuition payments. However, there are some limitations on funds that can be used for high school tuition so we encourage families to check their plan.

If financial aid will be an important factor for your family, please ensure that your aid application is complete by February 1st to receive full consideration. Those with late applications may not have the same access to aid resources.

Financial Aid Information

refund policies

Once you have been accepted to an Alzar School semester, you will be asked to pay a $4,500 non-refundable tuition deposit to formally enroll. Your enrollment deposit is applied as a credit toward the entire tuition amount due. The remainder of the tuition may be paid in installments and must be paid in full 30 days prior to the first day of the semester. Tuition payments made to Alzar School are non-refundable, regardless of circumstances.

All enrolled families are automatically enrolled into the tuition insurance plan that is detailed in Alzar School’s Tuition Agreement that is issued to families when students are accepted.

Student Account for Incidentals

The student account covers incidental expenses over the course of the semester. The account balance will be refunded at the end of the semester to families who fund a student expense account.

Potential Additional Costs

Alzar School purchases international flights to and from Chile for our students. Travel to and from the semester at the beginning and end of the semester is the responsibility of the family and is not included in the cost of tuition.

During the semester, Alzar School provides a majority of the outdoor gear needed for our outdoor expeditions (ie gear for whitewater paddling and backpacking). Students have a personal packing list of individual personal items that may result in additional expenses for the family (ie hiking boots, warm jacket, etc).
