Hiring: Director of Student Life, Equity, and Belonging

Alzar School continues to grow!  For the 2021-2022 school year, we are looking to add a new position at the school.   This position, the Director of Student Life, Equity, and Belonging (DoSLEB) will fill an important role at the school, having the primary goal of ensuring that students have a meaningful, productive, and powerful experience at the school.

The DoSLEB supports the school’s mission and culture, is a collaborative and constructive member of the school’s leadership team, and must be willing to participate fully in the life of the school including participation in programming on evenings and weekends, in the United States and, on occasion, in Chile. It is the DoSLEB’s responsibility to monitor student wellbeing across all departments within the school, ensuring that students are supported equitably. The DoSLEB reports to the Director of Semester Program. This position directly oversees the residential life program, coordinates afternoon and weekend programming, communication with families about the wellbeing of students, student support systems (such as the Mentor Program and Yurt Advocate Program), as well as assisting with the direction for student leadership opportunities. Additionally, the DoSLEB is responsible for fostering a diverse, equitable, and inclusive environment for students within the program. The DoSLEB will ultimately serve in the “administrator on call” role, providing support to programmatic staff. The DoSLEB works in concert with the Director of Semester Program, Director of Studies, Director of Expeditions and Risk Management, Director of Admissions, Director of Community Food Director, Facilities and Vehicles Caretaker, among other key staff, to ensure student success in the academic, outdoor, and residential life components of the semester. This is a twelve month, full-time position.  The position will be open until filled, but we anticipate the selected candidate starting July 1, 2021.
