Leo Friedman

World History

Being a Seattle native, Leo developed an appreciation for the outdoors as an accompaniment to his love of learning. After high school, his academic pursuits led him to study at Western Washington University in Bellingham, WA where he majored in History and double minored in Spanish and International Studies. Post-graduation, after investing time in traveling the world, coaching high school soccer, learning construction and helping run an organic vegetable farm, he interned at NOLS Patagonia developing their farm project and working maintenance on campus. This experience confirmed his interest in outdoor education and gave him inspiration to complete his NOLS Spring Semester for Outdoor Educators in May 2019. After leading youth backpacking trips in Washington this summer with BOLD & GOLD, he is excited to continue his progression as an educator and wilderness instructor with the Alzar School.
