Gillian Wilcox

Math, Science

Gillian comes to Alzar School from a small town in the White Mountains of New Hampshire. Growing up in a community centered around outdoor recreation and tourism, she experienced the world through the lens of family members in the outdoor industry. Traveling to the state next door, she moved to Maine to study Neuroscience and Mathematics at Bates College. During this time, she played Ultimate Frisbee and Club Skiing, pursued research in public health and neuroimaging, and found a love for backpacking while studying abroad in New Zealand. In the search of an intersection between science, math, and the outdoors, Gillian obtained her Wilderness Emergency Medical Technician (WEMT) certification in 2017. This prepared her with the medical skills to lead outdoor trips in Canada’s Yukon Territory and Wyoming, teach outdoor education, and work as a ski patroller. Most recently, she completed a teaching apprenticeship at the High Mountain Institute in Colorado. Gillian is excited to integrate science and math with outdoor exploration and cultural immersion at Alzar School. You can reach Gillian at or 1 (833) 862-5927 x 718
