High School Semesters
Experience a semester like no other
Alzar School is high school re-imagined. Academic coursework is integrated into the experiences of the semester, taking you from Idaho to Chile and back. Students will develop leadership skills as they paddle rivers and explore wild places. If you are looking for something different, if you are looking for something more from your high school experience, this semester is for you. Alzar Gap provides transformative experiences for high school graduates. Our gap programs range from 30 to 90 days, with different locations and foci depending on your timeline and interests. We are currently accepting applications for gap programs that start in January 2022.

Alzar School is accepting applications for Fall 2021 and Spring 2022 high school semesters. Alzar School is for motivated students who want to make a difference in the world. Priority Application Deadline: December 15th, 2020
Applicants must submit their written application by December 15th to be a part of our priority pool of applicants for the high school semester. Applicants who apply by the priority deadline receive admissions decisions sooner and are prioritized when financial aid is awarded.
General Deadline: February 15th, 2021
To be considered for the Fall 2021 or Spring 2022 semesters, applicants should submit their written application by February 15th. After this point, applicants are admitted on a rolling basis.
Gap Programs in 2021-2022
Alzar Gap is accepting applications for our programs that will run in the 2021-2022 school year. Applicants are considered on a rolling basis until a program is filled. Our priority deadlines, indicated below, factor into determinations around the distribution of the limited financial aid available for applicants.
- Priority Deadline for Western Whitewater in Fall 2021 is March 1, 2021
- Priority Deadline for Patagonia Exchange and Wild & Scenic in Spring 2022 is April 1, 2021
- Priority Deadline for Western Whitewater in Summer 2022 is February 1, 2022.
steps to apply
Applying for one of our programs is straightforward and all online. Follow these steps and don’t hesitate to contact us with questions:
- Click the high school semester application link button or the gap program application link button to be redirected to the appropriate initial application, where you will enter your basic contact information to create an account in our MySchoolApp platform.
- You will receive an email from email@example.com with your log in information, so be sure to keep an eye out so you can log in and continue your application.
- You will gain access to our Application Checklist, which includes:
- Written Application Form
- An online Zoom interview with an admissions representative
- Alzar School also accepts the SSAT (preferred assessment) for standardized testing results to demonstrate academic preparedness for our semester program.
The health and well-being of students, faculty, and staff is always the highest priority at Alzar School. In light of the ongoing COVID-19 situation, we want to communicate our continued enthusiasm for young leaders applying for Alzar School and recognize the challenging nature of this historic time. We are currently operating in-person and are still accepting applications for the Spring 2021 semester waitlist. We have developed operating plans for Fall 2020 and Spring 2021 that adjust how our semesters run, but still allow for the powerful learning we are proud of. Please see this overview of the operating plan for Spring 2021. Decisions about programming will be made with the intent of managing risk based on guidelines from international, national, and regional sources. As always, all of our programming will strive for facilitating the best experience possible for students.
